If you check the Gov.uk website, the date is 2nd July for new test only.  Until then you can still use the 1st edition book.

You certificate remains valid indefinitely. As Caroline stated above, the new dates refer to the new test only. So if you passed your test before 2/07/07 it is still valid after 03/07/07

'Life in the United Kingdom' handbook
If you are taking your test before 2 July 2007, you can still study the first edition of the Life in the United Kingdom handbook.

If you are taking your test on or after 2 April 2007, you should if possible study the second edition of the Life in the United Kingdom handbook. If you are taking your test from 2 July 2007, you MUST read the second edition.

i am rather confused now. people say that changes are not going to take place before june. some say that the certificates obtained before april 2007 is still valid with naturalisation applications made after april 2007.

please help
