My husband (a UK national) has been claiming Child Tax Credit and Child Benefit 'as a family' for my 2 children (he is their step father). 

I am a housewife. Will this affect my ILR application as I needed to obtain a NI number for him to claim the benefit?

Home office typically looks at each case differently and on it's on merits. They certainly want more people on benefits so they will look at your application with a magnifying glass but I can't be sure if they will decide in your favour or against.

I think I mentioned it before that Child Benefits have no effect on your ILR but Child Tax Credit does. Child benefits are the rights of the Children and they are for them not for you.
