Thanks for the update Waheed.

I just want to remind everyone that if you are applying for British Nationality as a second citizenship, you should check with your consulate before attending the ceremony. Although most countries allow dual citizenship, they may require notification before doing it so.

Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to give update on my
nationality.  I did get the invitation for the ceremony and I also booked
it but then I had to cancel it because American Rules for Dual Nationality are
very vague and I wanted to keep both nationalities. I wanted to mention it here
in case someone had similar experience with American and any other nationality.
If I was British and obtained US
nationality then it is ok but not the other way around.

I am a US Naturalized citizen because I was
born in Pakistan. I am dual National of USA and Pakistan but problem is US laws, if you take
another nationality after having US Nationality then they have to see your
intent and if you don?t want to give up US nationality then they cannot force
you to give it up. This question only comes up when you are applying for
Passport and my US
passport will expire in 2015. So legally I can keep all three nationalities
until 2015 but when I am applying for the passport then I have to tell them
that I have taken British Nationality. There are also cases where they will still give you nationality if you
tell them that you want to keep your American Nationality also. I am checking
with US Embassy Immigration Service to confirm it. For now I have postponed my
Ceremony till I return from USA
in September.

If anyone has been in same situation,
please give me your opinion and experience. I have seen many articles on the
Internet and on US immigration sites and in almost all cases person was able to
keep their US Nationality unless they wanted to give it up. I just wanted to be
prepared and resolve this before September 29th when my Nationality
papers expires

UPDATE
This is just part of the text from the letter I received from US Embassy. Bottom line is that American Citizen will retain their US Nationality even if they take on another nationality.

The action listed above can cause loss of United States Citizenship on if performed voluntarily and
with the intention of relinquishing United States Citizenship. The
United States Government presumes that United States Citizens intends
to retain their citizenship when they obtain naturalization in a
foreign state, subscribe to routine declarations of allegience to a
foreign state or accept non-policy level employment with foreign
government.

Therefore, a person who

1. is naturalized in a foreign country;

2. takes a routine oath of allegience; or

3. accept non-policy level employment with foreign government ,

need not show that s/he intends to retain United States citizenship since such an intent will be presumed.

You do not need to contact the Embassy until you apply to renew your
passport. Upon application for a passport or other services, the
consular officer will certify that it was not your inten to relinquish
your United States citizenship and that you remain a United States
citizen.
