No personal experience but the application for the extension visa seems pretty straightforward.

But are you sure his level of English isn't good enough to do the LUK test?  It seems a lot easier that the ESOL course, and you have plenty of time.

My husband is in the UK on a 2 year spouse visa which expires in April 2008. If he has not completed his ESOL course (he is still waiting for a place after almost 1 year), will he be given a further 2 year extension? Has anyone had experience of this?

Check to see if he can get another extension.  Explain to them that he is still waiting to get into take his ESOL course.  With that excuse I would think they would allow extensions as long as he has everything else in order.

Hope that helps out.
