If you have FLR(M), then under the current rules, you could apply for naturalization as soon as you have got ILR. You don.t have to wait for 12 months. However, there are proposal to change Citizenship rules, see Border Agency web site for details.

I came to the UK in April 2003 on a 5 year work permit visa. I got married to a British citizen in 2007 and applied for an FLR (Further Leave to Remain) which expires in 2009. I will be applying for ILR in 2009.  I would like to know if after getting ILR I need to wait for 12 months before applying for Naturalisation, or can I apply immediately, as I will have been in the UK for over 7 years. Please advise, any information would be helpful.

Thanks
