Hi. Quick query about what counts as public funds. I have ILR, and my wife will qualify for ILR in September 2008. My children are British, and I have submitted a nationality application within the past fortnight.

My 3-year-old boy has started nursery today, which will cost around £25 or £30 per week. They have given us a form to apply for grant funding from our Local Education Authority to cover this cost. (The nursery is not state-run, but a private charity.)

Is it o.k. for us to take this money since our kids are British and this is for their education? Or will LEA funding count against my wife's ILR and citizenship applications next year?

actually, i've now realised that the LEA grant goes directly to the school, not to or through us, so the answer for that, I therefore assume, is that it's o.k.

should anybody else ever need to know.
