I would try. The worst they can say is 'no'.

Did you send your application by recorded delivery or special delivery? There's some compensation built into that. Did you include a special delivery return envelope for the return of your documents? This will have bearing on how much compensation you'll get.

As a side note, you'll have a helluva time getting a British passport between now and the 10th, won't you? Is there enough turnaround time?

hi there,
i send the docs by special delivery n thought it would reach atleast in few days so didnt ask for any claims.

i have arranged for a private ceremony this evening n have to pay 105£ for it.

i am planning to apply for my passport only in india coz i dnt have much time on hand. :-)
anyways im happy that atleast the invitaion letter came before i left.

hi everyone,
i got my approval letter on thursday.
im going to inida on 10th so have to take a private ceremony so have to spend another 105 quid-its all because of the postal strike

can i ask compensation from them? my docs didnt reach on time coz of the royal mail strike.
