My wife had a work permit for 4 years. It was going to be expire on 10th Oct 2007. First, my wife's employer applied to home office to renew for her work permit. Because you cannot apply to work permit on your own. Then they have granted another work permit for 5 years. After that we both applied for visa at the same time(me and my wife) via my wife' s employer.(this is up to you, you can apply yourself) Then they gave us the visa until 2012. It went pretty smooth.

So do not worry about that as long as you have a job offer from your employer or you still currently work for your employer which your previous work permit allows you. Also your work permit application has to be by your employer. Once you get that, everything should be ok.

Hello All,

Anyone aware if rules are going to change agin for ILR!

they changed last year isnt it and they made it 5 years before a work permit holder could apply!

I will complete 5 years on may 19th 2008! I am just panicking that if they change again i might have to go back as my work permit expires next year!and they no longer renew work permits? or they still renew work permit?

Anyone for any comments or advice?
