Was that from the hand luggage or from suitcases? Make-up and creams are expensive, You will have to treat her to some new stuff. Glad you had a nice trip.

Hand luggage.  Funny thing is tha these people really don't know what they are doing except trying to scare people of flying. This person in security went to the log they had and looking for something and another was asking "Yes" or "No".  The person who was looking at the log couldn't find it in the log so he said "No".  My son purchased water bottle and the cashier kept the screw cap.

Sometime I wonder that there is no problem and government is just trying to make money on security by convincing public that their is a potential danger when government seems to be most dangerous factor at this time in all area.  Seems like other countries are trying to make America happy in anyway they can.  I guess money talks and America has it.

I think the terrorist threat is very real and I also think that I would feel more secure boarding a plane if rigorous checks had been carried out but I understand what you mean, perhaps the strict checking of baggage can also alarm some people as it makes them aware of possible terrorist activities.

I am scared of take off and landing at the best of times. I hate sitting over the wing as I can hear all the engine and landing gear noises. I practically have a heart attack every time I fly, especially since the time we took off during a thunderstorm and it was very turbulent, we lost contact with the tower for 15 mins or so and the Captain didn't sound very calm on the intercom. We lost an engine after a lightening strike. I thought I would never fly again, then I went to Australia. Now that's a long flight! If it wasn't for the free drink I would have been a nervous wreck.

Was planning on going to Chicago sometime  to visit my cousin that I haven't seen for years, maybe I will put it off for a while till all calms down.

Americans think they are the best, actually they don't have a lot of money. As far as I know the country has a huge deficit. They rely on oil !!!

"I think the terrorist threat is very real"

That's exactly what they wanted you to believe. If it is not a terrorist it might be a nation There was a downing of Korean Airline and TWA. I personally think tha it is something made up by USA so Bush can say "Fight against terrorism" is working.

Welcome back Waheed. I hope you had a nice journey.

I actually believe the threat is real but not to the scale it has been claimed. It is also more important is to see why more and more people are becoming threats.

As both US and UK governments are on so called 'hunting down the terrorist' mission, they are actually motivating more and more people to become a threat.

Regards,

E Fidan

I came back from my trip of USA. I visited New York and Chicago. Shame I was unable to go to Statue of Liberty because they have closed its inside visits after 911. USA is getting more expensive as Petrol prices were above $3.

I did not have any problems of security but my wife's makeup and some creams were confiscated and discarded. Some other governments are doing a good job of scaring Americans. Flew from New York to Manchester in less then 6 hours.
