Those are questions for a visa advisor but if it were me, I would see what I could do legally about saving the money before a daughter or son turned 18.

work permit change from wife to me-- When should I apply for ILR?

My wife got a work permit in August 02 and I was her dependent. subsequently, I got a work permit in January 03 and one year later she became my dependent.

My question is whether I could apply right now as 5 years is completed from the first entry.  Or should I wait for completion of 5 years on my work permit?  The problem in waiting is my daughter is going to be 18 by then and would need to apply separately, paying another £750.
