If you want, you can apply for Citizenship on the day you get ILR, or anytime after that. Check that you meet all other statutory requirements, absences etc etc.

My wife just received her IRL (in the form of Biometric Risident Permit BRP) 3 days ago - Does it mean she can apply for British Citizenship now? I thought she has to wait 1 year before she can make an application for Citizenship. Please clarify.
Thanks

Dear Madam,

In the year preceding the application there shall be no restrictions on the period for which you might remain in the UK (British Nationality Act 1981, Schedule 1, Section 6 (2)(e). It means that you should hold an indefinite leave to remain status for a year prior to your application.

Please do not hesitate to contact our company, should you need professional assistance in the process of applying.

I will write down the whole story on my day off work. 🙂 But be assured that you fulfill residential requirements for naturalisation.

I want somebody to advice me before I throw money away.

I entered into the UK in September 2009 on a student visa

I got married to a British citizen and obtained 2 years spouse visa since October 2011

I will apply for my ILR in October this year

Question.

When am I qualify to apply for British Citizenship base on the fact that I married a British citizen?

Looking forward to your advice ASAP. Thanks
