that depends entirely upon what basis you're making the application. 5 years' residence as a working immigrant? 2 years as a spouse of a British citizen? 10 years as a legal immigrant in a non-working category? 14 years as an illegal immigrant?

At a minimum, you will need to prove that you have been here for the time required. Passports and visa stamps are the best way to show this.

You will also need to have a Life in the UK Test Pass certificate.

You will need to prove that your marriage is still valid, if you're applying as a spouse of a Brit.

You may need to prove that you can support yourself and your dependents without recourse to public funds.

There may be other things, depending on circumstances, but those are the basics. These will be listed in the Guidance for the application form; and if you will tell us more about your situation -- starting with how and when and why you arrived in the UK -- someone here may be able to give you clearer guidance.

Section 8 (on page 10 of 13) lists every document that you will need to send.

As far as your work permit goes: my understanding is that work permits entitle you to work in a particular job. If you changed jobs, you should have had approval from the home office. If you are not working in a job that you were not given a work permit for, then you should consult with an immigration consultant immediately. You will need professional advice, not just advice from a website.

I Transfer my work permit 16th of January 2008 but I did not like the Job I left 2nd Febuary 2008 and I got another job on 13th April 2008, but Lawyers apply for my transfer on 17th July 2008  but work permit I got on 23rd of September 2008 and my due ILR next year April 2009.

Is there any problem to get my ILR next year for delay of my transfer and work permit, my visa upto 2013.

I am Indian and my wife is Indian , I have two children here with me and during this period I did not take any public funds
