as far as i know everybody has to take this test before being British

The information you have provided is not sufficient to answer your question.  Depends on where you were living and what was the status of your mother at the time of your birth. Yor age is also important and the status of your Mother, was she British National at the time of yor birth.  These are some of the questions that can establish your status.

If you are already British Citizen then you don't have to take the test as you don't need to go through the citizenship process.  I am pasting a URL for the site which explains some conditions.

Hi Laila:  I think you were thinking I was making this up. I am also glad it was amusing for you . We need to establishe if he is already a British Citizen. If you have not read the application guidance then I can  understand why is it amusing to you.  Please read the instructions as in the application they assume that not everyone knows if they are already citizen.  In citizenship application there is an option where they ask you to make sure you are not already a citizen. Section below gives you more information.  Hope this clarifies it. Trust me I wasn't making it up.

1.22 Your father's town and country of birth
1.23 Your father's nationality

hi,

can you help me please i want to know more about life in the u.k test,

the thing i am confused is i came frome my country in 2005 to reunin to my family and i have indafinit to live and my mother has british passport so i want to clame for the british nationality in 2006 hawever i heard obout life in british test. do i need to take the test like every one else or i can have it becose of my mother is british? pleacs i need some answer soon and stop thinking about it.
