Dear Hafeez:
As P Pron has pointed out, you need to see the requirement on Home Office Web site but basic requiremnet is that you complete Three years if you are going to apply on your marriage basis(to a British National). I am assuming that is the case because you said it is settlement visa. I am not sure if there are other kind of settlement visas, your information is not clear.

With only one date I can ask you several questions
You came here 11/06/2004 - You came here on what basis?
Where did you come from?  Were you EU National?
Did you get married before coming here or after?

If you come here on the basis of mariage you get a settlement visa and then you have to apply for Indefinite leave to remain, it was one year before and now it is 2 years. Your date for applying is after 9 months. You see all this has to be cleared befor eyou can get a proper answer.

If you apply on marriage basis then you need to live here for at least 3 years.

I assume that the fact that you were given ILR after one year means that you are married to a British citizen?

If so, and you won't have been outside UK for more than 270 since your arrival (and not more than 90 days
in the 12 months leading up to 11 June 2007) then you will be eligible to apply for naturalisation on 11 June 2007.

If you are not married to a British citizen, you will be eligible to apply on 11 June 2009. (And you are allowed to be outside UK for up to 450 days in the five years before you apply).

http://www.passport.gov.uk/index.asp .

If she's overseas, the application will need to be made to her nearest British passport-issuing diplomatic mission - you can get contact details from www.fco.gov.uk - there's a drop-down menu called "Most Popular Sections" - go to "UK Embassies Overseas".

Don't be tempted to apply in UK if she's not here - it is a criminal offence!!

kind regards

Paul

I was so scared when Waheed told me i was here illegally. I'm so happy to inform you of the outcome. Got my citizenship and passport two months ago. Once you get indefinite leave to enter UK (settlement visa) which is given mostly to those who have been married to british citizens for 5yrs and over. You don't need to apply for ILR once you are here but can apply for naturalisation once you meet the residence requirement( 3yrs) Hope this help those in doubt. ILR is the same as ILE.

ILR- Given here in Uk

ILE- Given prior to entry

I know every one tries to help with what ever 'they know'. But obviously, it is a area where for a proper advise one must consult the specialist immigration advisers/lawyers just as you seek medical advise. No offence to any one.

I am also amazed at the repitition of the questions which have been answered many times. Perhaps one needs to look at the previous posts before sending a similar question.
