Hello there Chloe,

I currently teach this, and we are nearing the end of the first course. Basically below Entry 3 level you are reccommended the course, though your command of english is pretty good and I would go for the test.
The course is ESOL with government citizenship materials, and ours lasts for a year. On that course you need to progress from one ESOL level to a higher one. The college will also give you a certificate stating that you have completed the above course.
Regarding fees, the courses have been free this year, but next year, most will charge. You will also have to attend the course regularly.

Good luck!

Hello there Farhan,

You have to contact your local further Education colleges - ask the council, or in your local library.  They should have a list of all the courses that are running.

Best wishes,

Caroline

I am applying for my ILR visa in NOV 2007, and I want to go for the ESOL & CITIZINESHIP CLASSES, and i want to find out how long do i have to be in the ESOL & CITIZINESHIP CLASSES to get a letter or certificate ( or whatever they call) so that i can apply for my ILR visa. And what Entry do i need to get to ? And is it the ESOL & CITIZINESHIP CLASSES for free ? As i'm holding a Spouse Visa and have been in the UK for 1 and a half years.  thanks
