My husband has been waiting more than 8 months for a place on an ESOL course to comply with the new regulations for Indefinite Leave to Remain (2 year spouse settlement visa) in order to obtain sufficient English. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The ESOL centre is not replying to correspondence (even with Stamped Addressed Envelope) and will give no indication as to when a course may become available. We understand that he will need to apply for an extension to his visa if he hasn't attended a course when his visa expires in a year. He has only very basic English and is at present paying £120 per month for 6 hours of private lessons, which is all that we can afford. He is unable to travel further to an alternative centre as he is in full time employment. Time is running out! He doesn't need to apply for a British Passport, just the right to continue to live here as a spouse.
