This is one I am not sure about. I don't think it is a criminal conviction as you haven't been charged with anything. Therefore common sense tells me that it doesn't have to be declared under criminal convictions. I hope P Pron pops up soon as I am positive he knows about this.

Thanks a bunch, Mrs G!!!! I'm pretty good on working out claims to British nationality, but on things like this, I don't know much more than anyone else - ie what it says in the IND Nationality Instructions!

Having said that, I agree completely with your commonsense view - CCJs aren't a criminal conviction, and if the appplication form and guidance notes don't ask about them them, the applicant needn't mention them.

The following is a link to the section of the Nationality Instructions on "character", which may be of interest.....

all the best

I would be grateful for your help.

I had a CCj against me for refusing to pay a phone bill in 1997. I paid the amount outstanding in 1998 and cleared the County Court Judjement (CCJ). I know that for credit purpouses my name is clear. Do I still have to disclose the fact that I had a CCJ 9 Years Ago?

Once again I am grateful for your help.
