I have been here the last five years. I came here in December 2001. I got ILR in January 2002. I want to take the Life In The UK test. Do you think I can take the test now or do I have to wait until my five years are over because  I got ILR in 2002?

U can take the test anytime as it doesn't expire. remember to read as suggested here. You don't have to wait for your 5 years to complete for the test.
If you came to this country on marriage basis then you can only apply after three years..
