my spouse visa was valid from 17/oct/05, but the date i arrived was 29/oct/05.

the question is when i apply for ILR,

Do i need to extend my visa to make it up to 2 year period?

because i arrived 12 days after the visa was valid

Therefore is it okay for me to apply ILR on 2nd/oct/07 without having to reapply for another visa?

Also the ILR note said:Please do not apply more than 28 days before completing that period.  And must apply before the end of authorised stay in the UK

Yes, I think that is the right idea. Somewhere between 2 October and 17 October, when the visa expires.

The date of application is the date of posting, so it is best to use either recorded or special delivery so that you have documentary evidence of this.
