Hello all,

I arrive in the UK in July 2000, been married to a British Girl for 14 years and have 2 children, since she had a British passport and my children also been British, my wife became my sponsor and I was on a 12month temporary resident visa, and after 12 months I obtain Indefinite leave to remain, a year later the wheels came off and we got divorce, this July it will be six years that I am living and working in the Uk and want to apply for my British passport trough the naturalisation rout. What is my position and my changes are there any problems awaiting me?

You should be able to apply for citizenship without any problem. You have completed 5 years so shouldn't have any problems.  I also heard that once you have obtain ILR and completed 3 years, you are eligible to apply for citizenship even if you are divorced.  In your case it doesn't apply as you have completed 5 years. Just to be on the safe side, consult Citizen Advisory Bureau or a solicitor.
