Hi

My wife came to the uk on a marriage visa, we applied for FLR once married.

On the letter that came back with her passport they said to apply for ILR just before the 2 year expirary date, however the visa has been issued for 3 years on both the passport and the date on the letter.

So is the visa 2 years or 3 years?

Also there is no mention on the letter about the Know the Uk test, is this because her FLR visa was issued before the test came into force.  If so does she have to take it for ILR, I am assuming she does although it seems abit odd that the letter has no mention of this and if it was not for the fact we checked info on the internet we could of found ourselfs in a very sticky situation?

One last question

My wife being married preveously had a name change on her passport, we applied for FLR under her old married name and not my surname as the HO said we should use the name in her passport.  All came through no problem I am now placing all our bills and bank accounts using her old name so it stays in line with her visa, is this a good idea or should I go and get her a new passport sorted out?

I know by law your wife does not have to use your surname does this apply to Visas?

Any advice on the above would be welcome
