Hi Francis,

This is not reply to you only but to everyone who asks about the aknowlegment letter from Home-Office, many people do get the letter and many don not. It is not a big deal if you don't get it, or if you really need to know if they've got your appication there are two ways, one when they deduct money from your account and two, when you send your application at least send recorded delivery and keep the receipt from Post Office and track it online.

Royal Mail has got fantastic facility so you can track your letter(s) but you need to send recorded or registered delivery, the receipt is important and keep it as there is 13 digit number that's the one will tell you if your letter has been delivered or not.

I hope that'll help.

Dear Sir/Madam

I apply for my ILR on 9th April 2009 but by mistake I send old form and wrong fees cheque £750.They send me acknowledgement letter and I re-applied for ILR on 7th May 2009 and the money is been withdrawn from my bank on 15th May 2009. How long does the Home Office take to give decision and will they send me an acknowledgement letter to let us know that they are doing our case, or straight away they give decision for my ILR without giving an acknowledgement letter.

If you kindly help me in this matter, I will be grateful to you
