Hi PV,

It sounds sensible to get the new passport stamped. I believe there are few different places you can get the stamp transferred - at least there used to - and the one I know was in Solihull. I'm not sure where you are so I cannot advise you a certain Home Office location.

With regards to second question, your ILR application is based on the last 5 years and having a rejections earlier - especially a salary related one - should not cause any problems.

Hi Admin,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. I feel very relieved esp. for my 2nd query.

Regarding my first query as you said it would be sensible to get my new passport stamped, I was reading this post on UKBA website para-3 :

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/ukresidency/transfervisatopassport/

I should be able to present my expired passport, I know good thing would be to get it stamped but as my ILR appointment is scheduled for early December, I am not sure if I have enough time to get it stamped.

I live in east midlands.

Thanks and regards,
PV

Prassna,

Reading what you have sent, I do not think it matters too much as they clearly state the following:

You can choose not to have the residence permit transferred to your new passport. In that case, you should carry both your old passport and your new passport when you travel to the United Kingdom, as evidence of your resident status.

As long as you have both your passports I do not see any reason why spend over £500 pounds to get your new passport stamped.

Hi Admin,

I have a humble request..

Could you please delete this thread of mine, I do appreciate your help and advice but I am bit nervous about this info as my friends might find this thread and know about my case.

Please remove my thread.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am looking for some advice for my ILR application and found your website very helpful. I got 2 queries and hope you would be able to help me out.

Query 1:
My passport (that has current visa stamped) was expired and I've renewed it from London last month (Both passports are with me, though the expired passport has now got 2 cuts on the first page i.e. cannot be used but visa stamp is intact). Indian embassy hasn't advised me to get the new passport stamped by UKBA.

I am applying for ILR next month, do you think I should have got even the new passport stamped? if yes whom should I contact?

Query 2:
I came to the UK on work permit in 2001 and stayed for 3+ years; in my last work permit extension - due to the amount of salary shown, my application was rejected and home office has put a line across that page (where 'Rejected' stamp was put) and advised me to leave the country (but no specific time limit was given - (early 2004)).

Since, I was informed after nearly 3+ months by my solicitor about my application rejection, I went back (early 2004) to my home country and applied for fresh WP which was approved. I've completed 5 years now on my 2nd WP and I want to apply for ILR based on my 2nd visit - last 5 years i.e. late 2004-2009.

Will there be any queries or problems regarding my previous stay (my 3+ months overstay) and is that line in the 'Rejected' page is of any concern?

Yours sincerely,
PV
