To my knowledge, the answer is NO. You need to complet 3 years residential qualifying periods as the Spouse of British Citizen.

in short:
2 years Spouse visa + 1 year ILR = Neutralization
- you must not have breached imigration rules
- you must not have travelled outside UK more than 9 months in 3 years
- you must not have travelled outside UK more than 3 months in last 1 year

Check with your local council called Nationality Checking Service, there is a small fee about £50 to be 100% certain.

Well the answer is yes and no.

She should qualify the residential period of 3 years BUT that doesn't mean she has to be in ILR for one year.

for example if she came on a student visa stayed in the UK for one year and without going back to her home country (no break in residency)got her spouse visa and stayed for 2 years that accounts for 3 years

1 on student
2 on spouse visa

Now all she has to do is apply for the ILR and then the very next day apply for british citizenship.

Hope it this helps

My sister is married with British Citizen and she applied a month ago for Settlement Visa, I have read in some forums in here that if you will get Settlement Visa you can apply in the same day for Neutralization and no need to wait for 12 months. We did some research through UK Boarder Agency but there is nothing saying that you can apply in the same day for Neutralization. Can someone explain me if is this true or not. Thank you in advance
