I have been in the UK since Oct 2009 on student visa but later get married to a british Citizen in July 2011 and started living together after Marriage. Looking forward to your response please. Thanks

Yea, october 2011 bank statement is fine. In SET(M) applications, they are really not out there to catch you out on a technicality. You just have to provide proof that establishes you lived 2 years as spouse. 6 items requirements is in guidance, not a rule.

I am sure you have all the bills/documents coming to your address like any other household in UK. ie water, electric, bank statements, tv license, council tax, phone bill etc. You will have no problems.

Question: Will home office accept a payslip with my address on it as one of the six letters?


I use topup at home for Gas and Electricity and my Landlord pays the council tax. But I am thinking of taping my gas and electricity receipts to the letter that came with the key with my address on it. Is that fine?


Can I put a letter that came from Home office partner 'DX' returning my wife documents for her Citizenship during the 2 years period?

No, I don't think that a payslip could be counted towards six letters. But if you have tax code notice from HMRC, that would be accepted. Same goes with "DX" letter.

In principle, you need to have documents coming to your address from government departments, utility companies or bank. Even on prepay gas and electric accounts you do get statements when they do reading corrections. I have prepaid electric and I get a statement every six months with all the details of topups I have made during that period. If your gas and electric company does not provide this, you could possibly ring them and ask them to give you a statement of topups.

if not you i would have made alot of mistake. 
Another question please:
1: two bank statement from different bank with different dates. will both count as a letter or two letersk? even credit and bank statement of different dates. will both count as one letter or two letters

2: home office requires the documents to be dated but there is no date on driving licence counterpart and card. is it alright to still send it as one of the six letters?

Two statements from two different banks may be regarded as two different proofs.

If you and your spouse have separate bank accounts, then you can include your and your spouse's bank statements. That makes it two proofs again.

You could ring HMRC, and ask them to send you your coding notice. That would be one official proof.

Your spouse could do the same, and you get another proof.

TV license.

Landline phone bill.

Letter from utility company as I explained before.

Driving license card does have an issue date. Please look carefully.

Letter from hospital to you or your spouse could be inluded.

Water rates bill.


Another thing I would like to say is, council tax bill should always be in your own name, not in landlords name. Just in case your landlord has declared to the council that house is being lived in by just a single person, and getting 25 percent single person discount? How do you know?

But if you are sure that your landlord pays full council tax bill, then there is no harm in council tax bill in his name.

I need to provide letter from Dec 2011 to Dec 2013


I have search my house and could not find any letter from December but could get a Joint Bank Statement front page dated Oct 2011.


Question 1: Will home office accept this as part of the six letters? being that it fall outside the 2 year period


Question 2: Will home office accept payslip with my address on it to be part of the six letters or documents?
