Well if you have been on work permit for 5 years then you have to live on ILR for at least 3 years and then only you can apply for NATURALISATION (Citizenship) and then after for British Passport.

hii,

if you have spent 5years in the uk on work permit and have you ILR for 1 year, you can apply for british citizenship 28days before the completion of 1 year of ILR.

One of my friend applied just before 28 days of completion of ILR.

thanks

Call home office and they will tell you the same thing. You don't need a reference for that. Common sense tells me that they allow 28 days prior for people to file application but there is no guarantee that you really save any time. Home office the laziest government office takes more then few months to work on your application.

In fact only thing they love is money and as long as they can manipulate public in giving them.
