Thank you Thressa for pointing out your understanding of it.  I will still think that you do need that condition even if you are married to a British Citizen.  here is the text that you referred to, please read it again and you will see my point. This is Page 5 and then First paragraph of Page 6.  It clearly states that 270 total and 90 in last 12 months. If you are referring to DISCRETION then I agree with you but they are DISCRETION and not the rules. If you don't agree with me, please do point out my misunderstanding.

Thank you.  here is the reference from the Guidance notes.

to a British citizen you should not have been absent for more than 270
days of which no more than 90 days should have been taken in the last

limits - see page 19 for details"

Hi,

I wasn't referring to the absence from the UK. That still applies if you are married to a British citizen. I was referring to the fact that you don't have to have indefinite leave to remain in the UK for 12 months before applying for Naturalisation if you are married to a British citizen. The text clearly states you can apply on the day you get indefinite leave to remain in the UK. You will have to fulfil the other conditions, of course, including the required period of absences from the UK.

Yes, I see your point.  The last 12 month of ILR does not apply to person married to British National.

I will modify it in next version.

Thansk for pointing it out.

Hello all,

I just wanted to point out that point number 2 on the Nationalisation Application Stages information page does not apply to people married to British Citizens. You can find this on page 5 of the application form ANNew.pdf which states that: 'If you are married to a british Citizen you only need to be free from Immigration restrictions on the day you apply'.

Just in case there were candidates out there waiting another year to apply.

Good luck to all.

Theresa.
