Hi Kammo, I advise you to contact your nearest law center, they will give you a clear explanation.  To find out which one it is , you need to contact your local citizen advice bureau.  This is the link:http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/

Take care

Hi All,

I know Tier 1 (General) is for 5 years (overall) and PR (ILR) can be applied after staying 5 years on Tier 1, so what would be the legal status in meantime. I mean when some one apply for PR obviously he has exhausted 5 years of visa and PR takes some time to get the approval so what would be the status? Can he/she gets extension?

Another concern I have about 5 years countdown. When 5 years countdown starts, the day I land in UK or when I get the visa approval?

thanks,

5 years countdown starts when you enter the UK (not when the visa is granted).

While your application is in progress, you can continue to work (your immigration status stays the same as when you applied, until a decision is made).

There are documents on the home office website if your employer needs convincing.
