Hi guys.

Police caution is a minor offence and would not affect your application. But if you had been fined (fixed fine) or had been refered to court due to a driving offence you need to write it down in the convictions section. Police caution by itself is not a major offence as well as fixed penalties made by police. However you can write it down in page 13 not in the Good Character section because it is not a conviction.

Good Luck!

Hi tanya.

Police cautions, fixed penalties, or points in your driving licence are not even needed to be mentioned. The only convictions you need to write about in section 3 are the ones you have gone to court for. Go to page 20 of guidance form. If you have had any of those cases which is un-spent you better apply after your rehabilitaion period is finished. If your only problem is the police caution, DO NOT worry at all. It would not affect your application.

They will get CRB checks in which only your major convictions are appeared.

Some tips to be careful about to prevent wasting that much money:

Make sure you have provided the proofs of your adresses in the last 5 years.

Make sure about your referees knowing you more than 3 years, one of which can be your GP.

Imp: If ANYTHING in your application is confusing and needs more explanation, DO NOT hesitate to make it clear in page 13. That is very important.

Take copies of all the main documents you are sending off (if you're not applying through Nationality Checking Service), as you might need to wait for a long time.

If you have no shortage in your provided documents do not worry, you've already got your naturalization.

Wish you the best of luck!

Cautions
3.4.1 When determining whether an applicant meets the "good character" requirement, caseworkers should not normally take into account cautions unless they fall into one of the following categories:
a.
If the caution or cautions are of a sexual nature that require the individual to be included on the Se x Offenders Register. Any application received whilst the individual is subject to reporting requirements on the Se x Offenders Register should be refused (see section 4 for further guidance).
b.
If the individual has received multiple cautions that show a pattern of offending, which causes harm to other individuals or to the community in general, and which, on the balance of probabilities, indicates the applicant is not of good character.

Hi there,

Could you help me please with my confusion.

I was cautioned be police a few months ago. Now I received my documents for naturalisation. I read all the sections carefully, but couldn't find any qestions asking about police cautions.

My worry is that if I send my application off and they do Enhanced CRB checks it might show up.

Thank you for your help.
