No problems, Mary - ILE (indefinite to to enter) is the same as ILR (indefinite leave to remain). ILE is issued when you're outside UK, and ILR when you're in UK.

If you have ILE, you're settled - provided you're in UK now, of course...

Hi,

Had an indefinite leave to enter for settlement in 2003 on the basis of marriage to a british citizen, i had been married for five years abroad and that's why i was given settlement visa. The confusion is; it had a date on it ( valid from 2003 to 2004) went to home office and was told that i had to enter between those dates and i don't need ILR i wasn't given any letter from the home office we just talked over the counter. Is settlement the same as ILR? I've been planning to naturalise but don't want to waste my money incaseĀ  my applicationĀ  is rejected. Can anyone advice on this issue.

Thanx

Mary.
