The only thing I could make out is that you can get a Basic state pension if you have paid NI for atleast 11 tax years.

Is there anyone out there who know more in this area?

Hi,

I'll try to answer your question just by giving an example of my mother in-law. She worked in the Uk for six years and then returned home after contributing NI for those years she was told she doesn't qualify for pension but gratuity of £ 1 a week!!! the qualification period she was told is seven years. It depends with your circumstance. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Can someone throw some light on Pensions in the UK.

If a person becomes Naturalised British Citizen after completion of 5 year and then returns to his / her home country, then will they get pension when they reach the age of 65 (currently 60 for women)? What are the current rules (assuming rules don't change in all these years)?

I was wondering about all those people who take their citizenship & then return to their home countries after contributing to tax & NI.

Arrival in UK : 01/01/2000

ILR                : 01/01/2004

Citizen          : 01/01/2005

Return          : 01/07/2005

NI / Tax paid : 2 years (say, could have been housewife!!)
