Yes, you will need to sit the Life in the UK Test to get Indefinite Leave to Remain and citizenship. This test has nothing to do with any other qualifications you might have; it is simply a requirement.
However, if you are living in the UK on a student visa (or as the dependent on one) the time spent on that visa will not count towards the number of years required for an ILR or nationality application. To qualify for ILR or nationality, you need to have a minimum number of years in the UK on a working visa (5) or a spouse's visa (3).
