The procedure varies with the test centre. They have specific days to provide the test and the registered invigilator must be present to invigilate the test. In my area there are two centres and I called both one did give me a week time but it was because I missed the day they usually have the test.  Second one gave me options for Wednesday(I called Monday) or Saturday so I opted for Wednesday and took the test after two days.

I believe in your case they must not have the registered invigilator at the time but they will not provide you test on the Walk-In basis because I think they need to register you to the Home Office prior to providing you with test. This is just my thinking.

Check if there are more sites in your area and try them.

Do you know what is the procedure for booking the test?

Today I went to my nearest Test Centre and wanted to book for test on Monday. BUT I've been told I have to book the test for at least 7 days in advance. So the earliest date is for the next Friday. The room was absolutely empty and they told me they are not busy but I can't come on Monday.

Is this right?
