I contacted my Local Authority immediately after receiving my citizenship approval, to arrange a ceremony. After answering several questions, they gave me an appointment for the 8th of June.

  4. Are you happy to shake hands when you receive your certificate.

I applied for my British passport today 13/06/2006 using the post offices checking service, it cost me £61 all inclusive.

They said that I would get my passport in 10 working days. They also said that 10,000 applications were rejected per month because of silly mistakes which could be avoided if every body used the checking service.

10,000 rejected passport applications per month - and
whose fault is it?

Somehow passport agency does not realize that it is their fault that their form
is so complicated that people make those mistakes. I think they should change the form and make it less complicated.

I have never used checking service and filled form for my family and never had
a problem. I remember one time, when my reference on the form had the same last
name. They delayed it until we cleared it that this person is not our relative.

I agree with you 100%. The problem is if we want to play the game, we have to play with their rules, otherwise they say don't play the game.

When I went to the citizenship invitation, there were 59 other people all paying lip service to the national anthem including the mayer who happend to be of turkish origin. I and they would have sung enything to get the citizenship. Easy to fill forms, or hard to fill forms what the hell as long as we get what we want.

I have received a letter also which is a little different from the one listed by Bordi Idrob. Mine says:

"I am pleased
to tell you that the application has been successful and you will shortly receive a letter inviting you to attend a citizenship ceremony. When you attend a ceremony you will be presented with a certificate of British citizenship.

Please note that this is not an invitation to a ceremony. You should not contact your local Authority until you have received your invitation. and so on and on..."

Congratulations Waheed, you of all people deserve your Citizenship.

The letter sounds a little odd, allmost like as if they run out of invitations

and they are waiting for a new batch to come in. But I am sure every thing

will be ok. they can't go back on their word after making a statement like that.

we are all happy for you, please keep us up to date.

Thank you very much for the Admin and everyone.  This site keeps me going and increasing my knowledge.

I just wanted to mention that most of the information is available on these pages and very little new information is being seeked.  My only request from new comers is that they try to find answer first as home office has provided all information on their links and we have listed few links on "Nationalization Application Stages" These links basically can give you all the information that you need.  if you are still confused and cannot find the answer do the old fashion way, ASK here.

Thank you again.
