There is nothing to worry. Unike other benefits, Child benefit is not only given to people with financial difficulties:

It is not affected by income or savings so most people who are bringing up a child or young person qualify for it.

The only important point here is that whether you are entitled to receive it or not (not all nationalities can receive it). If you are in doubt, please check with the Child Benefit Office. 

There is no reason for you to cancel it or try to hide.
