When I send my passport as part of the naturalisation process, do I get back straight again or do they keep hold of it til they make a decision?

Basically, how long would I be without the the document from the date i send it to the date I get it back?

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

hello liuba

if you havent been nationality checking service by your council or register offices, the passaport will be coming back to you until the home office made decision around 3 or 4 months.but if you haven with nationality checking service by your council or register office then they copy your passaports and give you back and they sent for you specila delivery, but you have to pay 40.00 pound for it.
that is what i did anyway.
